Frictional Games had been working on this project for five years, and so I was very interested to see what they'd come up with. I bought it right away.

This game makes me want to start playing Alien: Isolation again.
SOMA's interesting though because its setting isn't one that you may already have a decent understanding of, unlike Alien: Isolation's. It's weird, and because you're not quite sure what you're looking at or what's possible, it's highly effective at keeping you on edge. The distortion effects are also very good, and it reminds me of the unsettling static emitted from the radio in Silent Hill.
It's definitely a massive leap ahead of Amnesia, that's for sure. The environments combined with the very unusual creature things and the distortion effects can really make you feel like you're living a nightmare.
