"Madness" is right. Now it's cool that the aliens can mimic everyday objects, but also letting the player do it just looks so stupid. I'm having terrible flashbacks to I Am Bread.
At any rate, I'm sure it's an entirely optional power. No need to discount the game on account of its marketing.

Regardless of their final quality, I have to give it to Arkane. They do a great job making games I really want to play.

I love the booming electric stomp of the Phantoms. It's unsettling in a way that suggests unearthly power and an unfathomable origin. Not only is it important that the aliens' appearance be exotic, but also their movements, their sounds, their behavior! 3D model-swaps aren't going to cut it.
